Podgorica's Bemaks basketball team will play tomorrow in front of their fans against Zlatibor at the start of the Top 8 phase of the NLB ABA Second League.
Podgorica got the opportunity to be among the eight best teams in the second-best regional competition after Joker withdrew from the competition due to financial problems.
In the second phase of the competition, the teams were divided into two groups.
Podgorica Bemax will play in Group E with Helios, Bosna and Zlatibor, while Group F will consist of Široki, Cedevita Junior, Vojvodina and Ilirija.
Podgorica Bemax coach Marko Sekulić said that after being eliminated from the group stage, they rejuvenated the team and wanted to play the Montenegrin League with younger players.
"After an unexpected entry into the Top 8, we brought in three players to be more competitive in the ABA Second League finals. There wasn't much time to prepare and integrate reinforcements, but we will do our best to be a worthy opponent to every team in the group," Sekulić told the club's website.
The only Montenegrin representative in the main stage of the ABA Second League has experienced certain changes in the playing staff, as well as the coaching staff.
Sekulić will have the opportunity to lead a senior team in the regional league for the first time tomorrow night against Zlatibor, after making his debut on the Podgorica bench a few days ago in an away game against Kotor.
"We expect a tough game against an excellent and experienced Zlatibor team, which has been strengthened by our former player Marko Kljajević. I am sure it will be a big fight for every ball, but I hope to win," concluded Sekulić. The match in the Bemaks Arena will start at 18 pm.
