The NBA today announced the list of all players for the All-Star Game, which will be held in a new format on February 16th.
The starters have long been known, but now the full list is ready.
West: Steph Curry (Golden State)*, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma)*, LeBron James (LA Lakers)*, Kevin Durant (Phoenix)*, Nikola Jokic (Denver)*, and starting today, they are joined by Anthony Edwards (Minnesota), James Harden (LA Clippers), Anthony Davis (LA Lakers), Jaren Jackson (Memphis), Victor Wembanyama (San Antonio), Alperen Shengun (Houston) and Jaylen Williams (Oklahoma).
East: Jaylen Brunson (New York)*, Donovan Mitchell (Cleveland)*, Jayson Tatum (Boston)*, Karl-Anthony Towns (New York)*, Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee)* and as of today, Darius Garland (Cleveland), Cade Cunningham (Detroit), Jaylen Brown (Boston), Pascal Siakam (Indiana), Evan Mobley (Cleveland), Damian Lillard (Milwaukee), Tyler Hiro (Miami).
It is striking that Domantas Sabonis will not be in the All-Star Game, even though he is the second most triple-doubled player in the Sacramento team this season. There was also no room for players who missed a number of games due to injuries, such as Lika Dončić, but surprisingly, Trae Young, the league's top assist leader from Atlanta, was left out.
There were no stars who play well but are on the verge of being traded to another team, such as Nikla Vučević, Jimmy Butler, Bradley Beal...
This season, the All-Star Game will be played in a new format, with three mini-games without a scoreboard and a quarter, with the first team to reach 40 points advancing. Players will be divided into three teams of eight players each, selected by Kenny Smith, Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal.
Two All-Star teams will play as well as the Upcoming Stars Games from the February 14th game.
