The Hapoel Tel Aviv basketball club suspended its player Patrick Beverley today until further notice.
The Israeli club did not specify the reason for the suspension in its post on the social network X, but the Basket News portal reported that the American point guard was suspended for mocking his coach Dimitris Itudis.
Beverly and Itudis had a falling out after the loss to Hapoel Beer Sheva. The American playmaker played just nine minutes in that match, and did not enter the game at all in the second half.
After the game, Itudis was asked why Beverley did not play in the second half, to which he replied, "Because I am the coach."
Beverly then posted a laughing emoji on social media, expressing his disagreement with the decision.
Beverley (36) joined Hapoel last summer after 12 seasons in the American Professional Basketball League (NBA), playing for seven teams, including the Los Angeles Clippers, Houston and Los Angeles Lakers.
He was selected to the NBA's All-Defensive Team in 2017, and was twice a member of the Second Best Defensive Team in the same competition.
The American point guard is averaging 10,7 points, 4,6 assists, 4,1 rebounds, 1,4 steals and a utility index of 13,6 in the Eurocup this season, for Hapoel Tel Aviv, which is second in Group A with a score of 11/6.
