Podgorica's Bemaks basketball team was defeated tonight in front of their fans by Helios from Domžale 83:59, in the second round match of the Top Eight phase of the ABA Second League.
This is the second defeat for the Podgorica team in the Top Eight phase, after losing to Zlatibor from Čajetina 72:70 in front of their fans.
Podgorica, which was weakened by the absence of Balša Živanović, with a rejuvenated roster was evenly matched until midway through the third quarter.
In the following game, the physically stronger and more experienced team, with good three-point shooting percentages, managed to make a major turnaround with a 32:6 run and achieve victory.
Helios was led to victory by Jure Špan with 21 points, while Blaž Mahkovič scored 19 points.
For Podgorica, Xavier Rhodes scored in double figures with 14 and Anthony Smith with 13 points.
Podgorica will play against Bosnia in Sarajevo in the next round, on March 5th.
