New president of KK Sutjeska: Ambitions are clear, promotion to the ABA League, the very top of the Montenegrin league and the establishment of a women's team

Sutjeska has had a new president since the end of January - the assembly of the basketball club from Nikšić decided on Aleksandar Popović.

He succeeded Saša Miličić in that position and immediately announced that Sutjeska would have high ambitions in the coming period.

"The ambitions are clear - the very top of the First Montenegrin League and placement in the AdmiralBet ABA League. Of course, all of this must be accompanied by work with younger categories, the promotion of basketball and the return of youth to basketball courts and audiences in the Sports Center," Popović said for the club's website.

Popović, who is currently the executive manager of the Directorate for IMS and General Affairs at Elektropriveda Montenegro, also announced some news when it comes to ambitions.

"Yes, the ambition is to form a women's section of KK Sutjeska. First through working with younger teams, and then forming the first team. In the coming period, I will do my utmost to secure additional financial resources through my knowledge and acquaintances so that our ambition has financial support," added Popović.

When it comes to vision and plans, he says.

"My vision for the club's development and plans are such that Sutjeska should be the engine of promotion and development of basketball in Nikšić, primarily through work with young people, and then building organizational capacities so that we can welcome the much-desired appearance in the ABA League. I believe that the arrival of Željko Obradović and other legends to the Sports Center would greatly contribute to the promotion of sports in Nikšić, a city that has always been considered a sports city," believes Popović.

He also says that he found the club to be in a more than satisfactory condition.

"Financial stability and a strong sports team are the hallmarks of the work of the management that has been running this club since 2021. This is evidenced by the current table of the First Montenegrin League, as well as our standard participation in the ABA 2 League," concluded Popović.
