The Rising Star Tournament kicked off All-Star Weekend in San Francisco. The tournament featured three teams of seven players each, all in their first or second season in the league, and a fourth team of G League players.
The prize for the tournament winner is participation in the All-Star Tournament on the night between Sunday and Monday, and there will be a team led from the bench by Chris Mullin, a legend of the Golden State Warriors.
Malin's team first defeated the team led by Tim Hardaway, and then beat the team from the G League. In the semifinals, matches were played to 40 points, while the finals were played to 25 points. In the final, Chris Malin's team won 25:14.
The winning team consisted of Ryan Dunn, Zach Eady, Jalen Wells, Trice Jackson Davis, Stephon Castle, Dalton Knecht and Kiyonte George.
On the night between Saturday and Sunday, there will be a competition in skills, rapid three-point shooting and dunking, and then the All-Star tournament will follow the next night.
