"A great result for Montenegrin basketball, we will only realize how much of a success this is in the coming years"

For the third time in a row, and the fifth time in history, the Montenegrin national basketball team will play at the European Championship.

Our team was defeated last night in Stockholm after overtime by Sweden (86:83), and finished the qualifiers in second place in Group D, behind world champions Germany, and ahead of the Scandinavian team and Bulgaria.

This allowed Boško Radović's team to continue participating in major competitions, only missing out on the European Championship in 2015.

"A defeat, but as they say, it doesn't have a bitter taste. We qualified for Eurobasket, a great success for Montenegrin basketball. I can't remember the last major competition we missed, so we are happy. A great success that we will only be aware of in the coming years, because in this system I think we played with a different lineup every window. Players come from different systems and clubs. I would like to congratulate everyone on this placement and I hope we will enjoy Eurobasket in the summer," said national team player Petar Popović, who missed the November cycle and the matches with Bulgaria.

Dino Radončić played every match in the qualifiers for the upcoming EuroBasket.

"We are all very happy, the third European Championship in a row and my third. It is not easy to assemble a team, to qualify and it is really not an easy job. We deserve to go to the championship. The most important thing in the end is that we got a visa for Eurobasket. It was easier for everyone when we saw that Germany won. I repeat, we are very happy and that is it," said Radončić.

EuroBasket is from August 27th to September 14th in Latvia, Finland, Poland and Cyprus.
