The Buducnost Bemaksa women's basketball team will play against the official champion, Cinkarna Celje, tomorrow in the 16th round of the WABA League.
Buducnost has achieved maximum performance in the competition so far, while Celje, which has won the cup for the last three seasons, suffered its only defeat in the Bemaks Arena (71:64).
In addition to last year's finalists Celje and Buducnost, two Bulgarian teams – Beroe and Montana – secured their place in the final tournament.
The big derby in Celje will probably decide who will reach the final four from first place.
Coach Petar Stojanović said that the duel between Buducnost and Celje is the biggest derby in the WABA League.
"We are aware that we are facing a tough match, Celje is a phenomenal opponent, so it will be very demanding. It is a match that requires 40 minutes of great fight, energy and focus. We managed to defeat them in the first game, so Celje will be motivated to return that victory, because they want to win first place at the end of the regular season," said Stojanović.
He is convinced that Budućnost will also have something to show, stating that they will strive to achieve the best possible result.
Talented defender Atina Radević said it wouldn't be easy, stating that Celje has been further strengthened.
"Especially after the arrival of Nika Barič, but we will try to show the best possible game. Celje is a very experienced team, so this will be a big challenge for us, but we have a huge desire to show our worth against the champions," said Radević.
The match in Celje will start at 18 pm.
