Budućnost Voli was on the verge of its fourth defeat in the AdmiralBet ABA League - it pulled through and defeated Spartak in Subotica 86:82 by ending the game with a 13:0 run.
"I congratulate the team on their performance in the second half. Spartak played excellently, they usually play modern, fast and aggressively and that created problems for us. We did not respect the agreement, we conceded easy points, without concentration. We lacked focus, and a quality team like Spartak knows how to punish that," said coach Andrej Žakelj.
Buducnost was down 18 points in the first half.
"Then we woke up a few minutes before the break and started playing better. Not the best, but better and we were lucky to win. I think it was deserved because we played much better defense in the second half," added the Slovenian.
"There are a lot of things we need to fix, but every game is a fight for first place and the most important thing is to triumph."
Rashid Sulaiman had 22 points.
"He's been playing above what we expected all season and he's giving a lot in both directions. He's had two or three weaker games, but that doesn't matter because we're a team and there's no talk of individuals. In general, we didn't have a motivated individual against Spartak, and besides Rašid, McKinley Wright and Kenan Kamenjaš also stood out. If you ask me, it's like some of the others didn't come to the match. That was their focus," said Žakelj.
