The Buducnost Bemaksa women's basketball team will play tomorrow in Celje against Montana in the semi-final match of the WABA League final tournament.
In the league stage, the Podgorica team won both head-to-head matches - 75:68 in Podgorica and 75:60 in Montana.
Budućnost coach Petar Stojanović said that he was glad that the Podgorica team reached the finals and that they will be part of the regional spectacle.
He believes that the upcoming final tournament will be the highest quality in the last few years.
"We have four teams that deservedly made it to the final tournament, so it will certainly be interesting," said Stojanović at a joint press conference.
He emphasized that Montana is a great team, well-managed and covered at all positions.
"There are 40 minutes of great fighting ahead. If we emerge victorious and reach the final, it would be a reward for our hard work with a rejuvenated team. This season, some very young players have been given a significant role, so above all, I want us to enjoy the tournament, and we will see what we are ready for," said Stojanović.
The young Cetinje native, who won the WABA U17 League three years ago, reached the final four in the first season of the senior WABA League, where his colleague from Montana, Preslav Pešev, will also be participating for the first time.
Pešev said that the Bulgarian team appreciates Buducnost and is aware that they face a difficult match.
"All the teams in the Final Four have already won the title, they all have very experienced rosters and coaches, so maybe the least pressure is on us, but we will definitely see our chance. It won't be easy, but we hope we can reach the finals," said the Montana coach.
The duel between the Montenegrin and Bulgarian teams will start at 15:30 p.m.
Celje and Beroe will play in the second semi-final at 18 p.m.
The team from Stara Zagora was champion twice, once (in 2019) in Celje.
On the other hand, Celje has the opportunity to win its sixth title and become the absolute ruler of the region.
Celje has organized the final tournament twice (2015 and 2019), but failed to win the trophy on its home field.
In the year it celebrates three decades of existence, it also wants to take that step forward.
The duel between Cinkarna Celje and the Bulgarian team Beroe is scheduled for 18 p.m.
On Sunday, at 14:30 p.m., the match for third place will take place, while the final is scheduled for 17 p.m.
