SC Derbi celebrates its 10th victory in the AdmiralBet ABA League after a game that offered everything - they defeated Igokea after overtime 111:109 and tied their third consecutive triumph in the regional competition.
They did it after a great fight, thanks to the phenomenal tandem of Erik Neal - Luka Bogavac, who combined to score 50 points and hit 12 three-pointers.
Nil scored 26, Bogavac two less, so the "students" still have the right to believe that they can reach the ABA League playoffs...
Petar Mijović's team had a plus 10 (52:42) lead at halftime, and a 14-point difference in the third quarter, but the reaction from Igokea that followed in the final period could have been expected.
Point guard Bryce Jones then came into play, scoring from almost every position, and with 79 seconds left, the visiting team had a four-point lead (95:91).
Igor Drobnjak made a three-pointer to reduce the deficit to minus one, Emir Hadžibegović scored for 96:95, and Bogavac made it 98:95 from the penalty spot with seven seconds left.
Bogavac then, after an Igokea timeout, received a technical foul for illegally interfering with an Igokea player's throw-in. Jones cut the score to 98:96 before Nikola Marić tied the score with one second left.
Five minutes of extra time entered, and SC Derbi kept its composure - three-pointers by Hadžibegović and Bogavac made the difference, which was saved by Nil and Zoran Nikolić from the free throw line.
Nikolić was a great support for Nil in Bogavac with 22 points and 13 rebounds, Hadžibegović scored 15, and David Mirković 10...
