After a forgettable season, Virtus wants to embark on a new project starting next season, and Duško Ivanović will lead them on that path.
The Montenegrin basketball coach has officially extended his contract with the giants from Bologna for another season.
Ivanovic arrived at Virtus in December, at a time when the season for the Italian team was already quite complicated - our coach failed to lift the team into the Euroleague, while in Serie A they still hold a good position ahead of the playoffs.
However, the leading people from Bologna have no doubt that he will be the key to Virtus returning to the big stories next season.
"Duško brings experience and knows how to work with top players," said Massimo Zanetti, Virtus president.
Sports director Paolo Ronci had a similar message.
"Being calm about the coach gives us an advantage in the market and strengthens our project," Ronci emphasized.
Ivanovic, a former player for Buducnost, has managed many clubs throughout his coaching career, and Virtus is his fifth in the Euroleague - after Baskonia, Barcelona, Panathinaikos and Red Star.
He achieved his greatest success in Spain, where he was champion with Baskonia (formerly Tau Keramika) and Barcelona.
