“Difovci” and UDG advance from first place to quarterfinals of the Student Basketball League

The league part of the competition in the Meridianbet Student League of Montenegro in basketball has ended, after which the four first-place teams from two groups will continue the fight for the champion title through the playoffs.

The last, fifth round was marked by a direct clash for first place in group A between the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, which had achieved maximum performance in the previous four rounds. After playing better throughout the match, the "difovci" celebrated (60:53), so as the first-place team in group A, they will meet the fourth-place team in group B - the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in the quarterfinals. In the fight for a place in the semi-finals of the play-offs, the "Građevinci" will have the Faculty of Law as their rival, which finished the league race in third place in group B.

An important match for third place in group A was played by the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Science, in which the current champion won (54:41), so the third-placed team will play in the quarterfinals against the second-placed team from group B - Studentski dom from Nikšić, while the fourth-placed "economists" will face the winner of first place in group B - the University of Donja Gorica.

In Group B, the Faculty of Law easily and convincingly defeated the last-placed Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (51:32), the leader UDG had a harder time than expected to win over the penultimate Faculty of Biotechnical Engineering (70:66), while the most uncertain match of the last round was played between the Student Dormitory NK and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. It was a direct clash for second place, in which the "domestics" were slightly more successful (44:43), so ETF had to settle for fourth place and the toughest rival at the start of the playoffs.
