With their victory over Partizan, the Buducnost Voli basketball team took a huge step towards winning first place in the AdmiralBet ABA League, and after the triumph in the big derby, coach Andrej Žakelj mentioned that the next rival is just as difficult.
Next up is a visit to Krka (Saturday at 17 pm), a team that is nowhere near the qualities of the "blues" or "black and whites", but which demands to be taken seriously.
Because, the people of Podgorica must not allow themselves to slip up in a duel where victory is already guaranteed, just five days after such an important triumph.
"Krka is always a difficult opponent on their home court, and it will certainly be the same in this match. This is a team that came close to defeating Partizan and Red Star, who play good basketball and we have to be maximally focused. There is no doubt that the most important thing before this match is the approach," said Žakelj.
Buducnost has three more wins than Partizan before the end of the regular season, but also a better head-to-head record. They have the luxury of losing once, and they would be first again, and after the match with Krk they still have a home match against FMP and an away match in Dubai.
"Krka is a good team, very well led and it will not be an easy match. With the right approach and energy, I expect us to record another triumph and be one step closer to first place before the start of the playoffs," said ABA League leader center Kenan Kamenjaš.
Krka has five wins in 27 rounds.
"Budućnost is currently the best team in the league and there is no longer any excuse that the Euroleague competition shaped the results and the table in the ABA League. They beat Partizan fairly, they had the same amount of time to prepare as Partizan. The games of the team from Podgorica are a bit of a surprise for me too, but based on everything they have shown, they are one of the favorites, especially if they gain home field advantage. I know that my colleague Andrej Žakelj will not leave anything to chance, because every game is important for the rival in order to keep first place," said Krka coach Dejan Jakara, who succeeded Žakelj on the SC Derbji bench last season.
