The Mornar basketball team lost away to Zadar tonight (100:69), so they will definitely finish the season in last place, but the decision of the ABA League will determine whether they will be relegated.
Barani were in the lead from the start tonight, and the game was turned around midway through the third quarter, when Zadar went on a 12:0 run and took a 65:45 lead.
"I congratulate Zadar on a more than deserved victory. Unfortunately, it was clear from the first minute that we started badly, in three or four minutes we had five turnovers. When you enter the game like that, you can't expect anything good. In the first half, we had seven turnovers, and Zadar had 11 offensive rebounds, which means 18 more possessions. The difference in quality was visible, I don't have much to say," said Mornar coach Mihailo Pavićević after the match.
Mornar has only recorded two wins in the league this season, both at home - against Cibona and Krka.
"We have been in a difficult situation as a club for objective reasons for the past two seasons. Clubs much bigger than us also face such crises, Zadar was in a similar situation. I always say that the players are always responsible for the team's success, and as a coach I certainly bear the greatest responsibility for the poor results. There is talk of expanding the league, it would be good if that happened, but if it doesn't happen, it's not the end of the world," concluded Pavićević.
