Two-thirds of the delegates to the Assembly of the Basketball Association of Montenegro signed a request to schedule an extraordinary session to discuss the dismissal of President Jelena Dubljević, as well as the first person in the Assembly, Radoslav Jovanović, reports Gradski portal.
The explanation of the initiative states that the main reasons for this move are financial indiscipline, budget problems, negative audit findings, but also overall poor relations within KSCG.
That Dubljević does not have the support of the majority was evident when the regular session of the Assembly was not held on March 28th due to lack of a quorum. Out of a total of 92 delegates, 38 attended the session, while at least 47 delegates are required for it to be held.
According to Article 14 of the Statute of the KSCG, the Assembly shall hold an extraordinary session at the request of the President of the Assembly, the President of the KSCG, or the Board of Directors, or one third of the members of the Assembly.
A few days ago, information appeared in the media that two official KSCG cars were sold below market price to Jelena Dubljević's brother, Dušan Dubljević, as well as to KSCG Secretary General Darko Ivanović. KSCG said at the time that everything was done in accordance with the Statute and decisions of the Board of Directors.
Muhamed Bučan, who has since resigned from the Board of Directors, reacted, saying that he was not present when the vote on the car sale was held, nor did he vote for that item.
After that, KSCG reacted again and said that "all decisions of the KSCG Board of Directors that were made at this session were adopted with the necessary number of Board members present (eight members present) at every moment of the session."
There was also turmoil at the beginning of February, before the final tournament of the Montenegrin Cup in Bijelo Polje, when the ŽKK Budućnost Bemax announced that it and its branches might boycott the competition.
"It's more than a shame and we, as serious people who invest some funds, will not allow anyone to joke with us. I'm referring directly to the Basketball Association. I cannot allow a few players who don't have a club or don't play for a second to play before the Buducnost basketball players," Zoran Vujičić from Buducnost Bemax said at the time.
Jelena Dubljević was appointed president of the Alliance in November 2023, when she defeated Nikola Peković.
In a year when the men's and women's national teams of Montenegro are expected to compete at Eurobasket, things are once again hectic at KSCG.
