KSCG without a president, Jelena Dubljević resigns: I am faced with a brutal and unfounded campaign

That I was on the right path is also evidenced by the tangible financial progress over the past 18 months - upon coming to office, I found a debt of 540 thousand euros, and at the moment when I leave the position of president of the Association, it amounts to 280 thousand euros

Everything that has been happening in the Basketball Association of Montenegro in recent days has come to an end - Jelena Dubljević has resigned as president.

This was announced by the KSCG, just 48 hours after two-thirds of the delegates to the Assembly of that Alliance signed a request to schedule an extraordinary session to discuss the dismissal of Jelena Dubljević, as well as the first man in the Assembly, Radoslav Jovanović.

Shortly before that, information appeared in the media that two official KSCG cars had been sold below market price to her brother Dušan Dubljević, as well as to KSCG Secretary General Darko Ivanović.

KSCG said at the time that everything was done in accordance with the Statute and decisions of the Board of Directors.

After submitting her resignation, Jelena Dubljević issued a statement...

"In recent days, I have been faced with a brutal and unfounded campaign that has as its ultimate goal the degradation of my personality and business results, of which I am extremely proud. I would like to remind you that as a player I have always built my career on dedicated work and an honest attitude towards my work, which I later transferred to a managerial position, which I gladly accepted, firmly believing in my business contacts and professional ethics," Jelena Dubljević began.

The aforementioned delegates, in explaining the initiative to remove the president, stated that the main reasons for this move were financial indiscipline, budget problems, negative audit findings, but also overall poor relations within the KSCG.

"The tangible financial progress over the past 18 months also proves that I was on the right track - upon taking office, I found myself in debt of 540.000 euros, and at the moment I am leaving the position of president of the Federation, it amounts to 280.000 euros. It is also symptomatic that the media spin (the content of which will be the subject of court proceedings in the coming period) comes at a time when we are recording the highest position in the FIBA ranking list in our history, and on the eve of the European Championships in which the men's and women's senior teams, as well as four junior teams, will participate," the statement reads.

She also says that the upcoming events will only be confirmation that she entered this endeavor accomplished in all areas of life and guided by good intentions, and that her personal integrity and dignity are a priority over any position.

"With gratitude to the media for their very high-quality cooperation during my mandate, I am ending my public communication on this topic with this statement," concluded Jelena Dubljević.

At the Extraordinary Electoral Assembly on November 24, 2023, she defeated Nikola Peković, who had held that position since May 2021. 42 delegates voted for Jelena Dubljević at that time, while Peković received the support of 38 of them.

The KSCG reminds that it was the first time since independence that at least two candidates participated in the elections for the president of the Alliance, and that for the first time in the history of the Alliance, a woman was at its head.

It seems that in the end, the key detail in everything was the split between Jelena Dubljević and Bemax, the company that supported her in the elections against Peković.
