Tomorrow, starting at 14 pm, SC Derbija basketball players will try to enjoy their first head-to-head match with Red Star Belgrade in the last game of the 27th round of the AdmiralBet ABA League at the "Aleksandar Nikolić" hall.
All nine head-to-head matches went to the "red and whites", with the score in Belgrade being 4:0.
The match has no competitive significance for either rival, as Red Star secured the fourth position for the playoffs, which the "students" failed to achieve.
"We are playing against the absolute favorite for the highest ranking in the league. And that's shortly after the game with Mega, therefore with a lot of problems and injured players. Still, we want to do our best to use the class and quality of our rivals for individual and team progress," said the "students" coach Petar Mijović clearly.
Of particular intrigue will be the possibility of 19-year-old SC Derby winger David Mirković to try his hand against the home team's star, Filip Petrušev, who has confirmed his excellent form with six consecutive matches in which his utility index was above 20.
"We don't need to announce much about an opponent like Red Star. A Euroleague team that was in the Top 10, close to the Euroleague playoffs. We don't need to be motivated against such a team. We need to try to stay tied for as long as possible, to play our game - to run, to defend, to jump. We want to show ourselves in the best light, to do our best and to fight for a surprise and victory," emphasized "Students" basketball player Zoran Vučeljić.
Home team coach Yannis Sferopoulos announced that he has a plan for the "students".
"We are playing against a very talented team, which is a combination of experienced and young players. What I always mention is that we have to be ready to play good defense and offense, as well as stick to our game plan."
