Monaco's basketball players advanced to the Euroleague Final Four tonight, after defeating Barcelona 85:84 (15:19, 30:20, 20:23, 20:22) in the fifth, decisive match on their home court.
The Catalan team had a shot for victory in the last attack, but Kevin Panter was inaccurate from distance.
The team from the Principality was led to the Euroleague final tournament by Mike James with 20 points and five assists, Giorgos Papayannis scored 17 points and five rebounds, while Matthew Strassell (four assists) and Alpha Diallo (three rebounds) each scored 11 points.
In the losing team, Panter was better than the others with 19 points, six rebounds and four assists, while Justin Anderson (four assists) and Willie Hernangomez (three rebounds) each scored 16 points.
The Euroleague final tournament will be played from May 23rd to 25th in Abu Dhabi. Monaco will play Olympiacos in the semifinals.
