The basketball players of Budućnost Voli did the expected job to reach the semifinals of the AdmiralBet ABA League.
After much excitement, the "Blues" defeated Mega in Novi Beograd 92:87 and will compete in the final with Red Star, who also eliminated Igokea in two games.
That semi-final pairing was a certainty for many, Budućnost wanted to reach it through two quarter-final matches and they succeeded in that after a great fight with Marko Barać's young team.
Mega opened the game better, and Buducnost took control from the middle of the second quarter on the wings of Džuvan Morgan, and went into the break with a safe plus 11 - 49:38.
Yogi Ferrell ended the half with a three-pointer, and in the first attack of the 3rd period he scored with a foul for the biggest 14 points difference (52:38), and then Mega got into a recognizable rhythm, accelerated the game and in just four minutes canceled the big deficit.
The team from Podgorica needed time to get their bearings, Mega used it to gain a seven-point lead on several occasions, but the finish went to Andrej Žakelj's team - as has happened many times this season in the ABA League.
Alen Omić kept Buducnost in check with six consecutive goals at the beginning of the last period, and when Rashid Sulajmon made his move - with notable roles from Ferrell, Morgan and Fletcher Magee - it was clear that the quarterfinal series would end in the Sports Hall named after the legendary Ranko Žeravica.
Sulajmon finished the match with 20 points, Morgan scored one less, while Ferrell scored 16. Omić scored 13, and Kenan Kamenjaš also had a double-digit scoring performance (10).
