Juventud basketball player Pau Ribas announced today that he will end his career after the end of this season.
"Pau Ribas, captain of Juventud, announced today that he will retire from professional basketball after a 20-year sports career (2005-2025) when the season ends," the Badalona club said in a statement.
Ribas (38) began his second term at Juventud in 2020, having already been a member of the Badalona club from 2005 to 2009. In his career, he also played for Barcelona, Valencia, Baskonia and Prat, where he was on loan from Juventud from 2005 to 2007.
While he was a member of Valencia, he was selected to the Spanish league's ideal team for the 2014/15 season, and in 2015 he was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Spanish Super Cup.
Ribas has won the EuroCup championship twice, first in 2008 with Juventud and then in 2014 with Valencia, while he won the gold medal with the Spanish national team at the 2015 European Championship and the 2019 World Cup.
Juventud is in sixth place in the table with two rounds remaining in the regular season of the Spanish league, which means they will qualify for the playoffs.
