Monaco basketball player Matthew Strassel today extended his contract with the club from the Principality until 2029.
"I feel at home here in Monaco. All I'm looking for is to find a home, with an organization and a club that is ambitious. The board is ready to bet on me, which is why I decided to sign a new contract. I want to continue moving forward, to progress, whether individually or collectively with this team. I look forward to continuing and seeing what the club will become in the coming years," Strazel said, as reported by Monaco's website.
Strazel (22) joined Monaco in 2022, and has since won two French league championships with the club from the Principality, as well as the French Cup in 2023. He also reached the Euroleague Final Four twice with Monaco, first in 2023 and then this year.
The French point guard is averaging 8,4 points per game in the EuroLeague this season, shooting 52,2 percent from two-point range, 40,7 percent from three-point range and 84,4 percent from free throws. He's also averaging 2,4 assists and 1,1 rebounds.
Strazel won a silver medal with the French national team at the Olympic Games in Paris.
Monaco finished the regular season in the Euroleague in fourth place in the standings with a score of 21/13, defeated Barcelona in the quarterfinal playoff series with a 3:2 aggregate score, and will play Olympiacos in the semifinal match of the Final Four.
