Oklahoma City's basketball team took a lead against Minnesota in the NBA Western Conference finals, after winning the first game at home 114:88 last night.
Oklahoma was led by Shay Gilges-Alexander with 31 points, 20 of which came in the second half, and he also had nine assists, five rebounds and three steals. He made eight of 14 shots in the second half, after a poor first half.
"I didn't really change my mindset. I just tried to stay aggressive, to believe in my work," Gilges-Alexander said.
Jaylen Williams contributed to the victory with 19 points, eight rebounds, five assists and five steals, Chet Holmgren with 15 points and seven rebounds, and Isaiah Hartenstein with 12 points and five rebounds.
For Minnesota, Julius Randle led the way with 28 points and eight rebounds, but he only scored eight in the second half. Anthony Edwards added 18 points and nine rebounds, and Donte DiVincenzo had nine points.
Minnesota led 48:44 at halftime, with Randle scoring 20 points, and Oklahoma managed to take a 10:0 lead in the third quarter with a 66:60 run. Oklahoma won the third quarter 32:18 and entered the fourth quarter with a 76:66 lead.
"This is the first game. They won at home. Congratulations to them. They played very well. We have the next one in two days," said Minnesota coach Chris Finch.
The second game will be played on the night between Thursday and Friday, and Oklahoma will once again be the host.
