For the seventh year in a row, the best player in the strongest basketball league comes from outside the United States.
This time from neighboring Canada - Shay Gilges-Alexander, the maestro and leader of Oklahoma, is the new NBA MVP.
The news was reported by Shams Sharaniya, an ESPN insider.
The greatest rival to the great Canadian was Nikola Jokić, who has won this title three times in the last four years.
Gilges-Alexander led OKC to 68 wins, making them the best team in the NBA.
He became only the second player in NBA history to average at least 30 points on 50 percent shooting, five rebounds, five assists, 1,5 steals and a block per game, tying Michael Jordan with the greats of 1987/88 and 1990/91.
The last American basketball player to win the most prestigious individual award was James Harden in 2018. After that, the best were Giannis Antetokounmpo (Greece) twice, Jokić (Serbia) three times, and Joel Embiid (then still Cameroon) once.
