Montenegrin national basketball team player, Nikola Vučević, was a guest on Edin Avdić's podcast X&O's Chat, where he talked about numerous topics and recalled his time at Budućnost Voli.
Vučević played for Buducnost in 2011 during the NBA lockout, and he emphasized that that period was one of the best in his career.
"That period was one of the best in my career. I was happy to return to the NBA, but I was also sad, because I was home after many years, we played well, had good results, the camaraderie was good, my best friend Vlado Mihailović played with me, we hung out all the time. I enjoyed returning to Europe. I played well, people started coming to watch, it was a nice story. That was a difficult period for Buducnost. It was the first year when Dragan Bokan came to the club, not everyone was sure what it would be, what it would look like. As we played better and better, it was good," Vučević recalled.
He also remembered the match against Partizan.
"My penultimate game was against Partizan, the last one I played was in the Eurocup. Against Partizan it was the first game that the Varvaras returned to, who hadn't come to basketball games for several years. On the other side were the Grobari, the hall was full, the atmosphere was great. Nikola Peković played for Partizan at the time. In the end, we beat them. The atmosphere was amazing."
On the eve of that match, Buducnost presented him with a gift.
"The future gave me a gift before the game, a watch. I still keep it at home. And a picture of it too. Those are special moments and emotions," Vučević is honest.
During that period, he particularly highlighted his work with coach Dejan Radonjić and fitness coach Dragan Gačević.
"I really enjoyed working with Deja Radonjić. We trained a lot, and the fitness coach who was at Buducnost at the time, Dragan Gačević, is still my fitness coach today. Both of them are organized and disciplined and they helped me a lot to play at a high level," said Vučević,
