The president of the Basketball Club Budućnost Voli, Dragan Bokan, said that he had a constructive meeting with the Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, who, as he says, informed him that the state and state-owned enterprises, "in the years to come", will actively support KK Budućnost Voli as a club of national importance and that in the coming period they should be in constant communication in this regard.
In an interview for the club's website, he said, among other things, that the Board of Directors expects a series of meetings and concrete agreements in the coming days, by the end of the month at the latest, with the aim of specifying a long-term development strategy.
Bokan congratulated Partizan on winning the AdmiralBet ABA League championship title.
"I attended last night's game and had the opportunity to personally congratulate them. Our players gave their maximum – they fought until the last second, showed courage, sacrifice and character. On this occasion, I would like to thank the players, the coaching staff, the management and the club's Board, every company that helped Buducnost Voli. I would also like to thank our fans, and especially our loyal Varvaras. Unfortunately, sport is unpredictable. During the final series, we faced serious injuries that significantly affected our ability to provide stronger resistance. However, I am proud of everything our boys showed on the court. Top-notch basketball was played and Buducnost Voli, without a doubt, showed that it belongs to the very top of regional and European basketball," said Bokan.
He says that the season was extremely successful and a strong confirmation that the "blue and white" are on the right track.
"We have a lot of work, effort and dedication behind us - both from the sports sector and the club's management. We managed to reach the finals of the regional competition, we have respectable results in Europe and we have once again confirmed our status as the most successful sports team in Montenegro. I am proud that Budućnost Voli is viewed with increasing respect beyond the borders of our region. The club is building a serious reputation in the European basketball community and I am sure that we will strengthen our position in the years to come," said Bokan.
He once again expressed the view that no club can develop in the long term "if it does not have a system, stability and unity behind it." KK Budućnost Voli, as he said, cannot be the responsibility of just one person or just the private sector, but must be a joint project of the city, state and economy.
"In this context, I would like to share some important news. On Monday evening, just before my departure for Belgrade, I had a constructive meeting with the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajić. He informed me that the state and state-owned enterprises will actively support KK Budućnost Voli as a club of national importance in the coming years and that in the coming period we should be in constant communication in this regard," said Bokan.
He also thanked the Mayor of Podgorica, Saša Mujović, and his team for their strong support for the club.
"The Board of Directors expects a series of meetings and concrete agreements in the coming days, by the end of the month at the latest, with the aim of specifying a long-term development strategy. I believe that together we will define clear support mechanisms and pave the way towards even greater sporting successes, strongly united around the noble goal of supporting our Future," said Bokan.
He says that his greatest wish is for Budućnost Voli to be a club that does not divide, but rather brings together, "a club that unites diversity and is a symbol of togetherness."
"I want us to be an example - how the love of sport can be transformed into a story that goes beyond the result. I want us to all be Buducnost in the stands, in front of small screens and in everyday life. Because Buducnost Voli is not just a club - it is the idea of joint effort, will and pride. Let sport unite us, let Buducnost Voli be a symbol of modern Montenegro, a country that believes in success, values and togetherness, a symbol of reconciliation, connecting and merging differences. Together we can do anything. Divided - nothing," said Bokan.
