It's not easy to turn to domestic obligations just a few days after losing in the AdmiralBet ABA League final, but the Buducnost Voli basketball players were serious, and they have too much quality to allow for a surprise in the semifinals.
The Montenegrin champion started the defense of the title with a victory against Podgorica - today in "Morača" 97:85, for a 1:0 lead in the series.
Of the players who had a great season, Džuvan Morgan, Nikola Tanasković, Yogi Ferrell, Alen Omić and McKinley Wright did not play in the first match, so the "blue and white" were led to the triumph over their city rival by captain Aleksa Ilić with 18 points and Fletcher Magee with 17.
Podgorica played a solid match, taking the lead (21:20) at the end of the first quarter after a point by Marko Radunović, but Buducnost practically solved the question of victory in the second quarter, in which they scored 30 points and conceded 19.
In addition to the aforementioned Ilić - Megi tandem, the winning team also included Mateo Drežnjak with 14 points, followed by Kenan Kamenjaš with 13 and Đorđije Jovanović with 12. Andrija Slavković (10), Rašid Sulajmon (7) and Petar Minić (6) also scored points for Buducnost.
On the other hand, Radunović was the best with 19 points, while Nikola Žižić and Jan Bulajić scored 14 each.
Match number two will be played tomorrow at 17 pm, and if Buducnost wins, they will advance to the final. Another Podgorica team is already there - SC Derbi, who beat Sutsjeska in two semi-final matches.
