After a year and a half of cooperation, the Kaunas basketball club Žalgiris and coach Andrea Trincieri have mutually terminated their contract, the Lithuanian club announced.
Trinkieri took over at Žalgiris ahead of the start of 2024, succeeding Kazis Maksvitis on the bench.
In his first season with the team, he won the King Mindaugas Cup, but was defeated in the final series of the Lithuanian league by Rytas Vilnius. In the Euroleague, Žalgiris achieved nine wins and eight losses with Trincieri on the bench, taking 14th place in the final standings in the 2023/2024 season.
In the current Euroleague season, Žalgiris finished in 13th place with a record of 15 wins and 19 losses. The Kaunas team won the King Mindaugas Cup again and returned the Lithuanian league championship trophy after a one-year break.
In addition to Trinchieri, his assistant Massimiliano Menetti is also leaving the club. Žalgiris Kaunas thanked the coaches for their cooperation and wished them much success in their future careers.
