McKinley Wright will be remembered as one of the best foreigners to wear the Buducnost Voli jersey, and now it's time for the Podgorica club to find a replacement for him.
It won't be easy, and as the best solution to step in instead of the AdmiralBet ABA League MVP, it seems that the top scorer of the recently concluded season - Bryce Jones from Igokea is on the radar of Buducnost, Serbian media write.
"Budučnost has embarked on a reconstruction from the playmaker position, and the team from Podgorica has shown interest in bringing one of the best players in the Adriatic League to its ranks," Mozzartsport announced.
Jones is having a phenomenal season - averaging 18,5 points, 3,6 rebounds and 5,9 assists, with a two-point shooting percentage of 52,2 percent.
"This is a well-known face and a guy who played at MVP level this season in the Igokea jersey, although he did not receive the recognition for the most valuable player of the regional caravan," adds the aforementioned portal.
Interestingly, if this transfer were to happen, it would be Jones' return to Montenegro, as his first European club seven years ago was Ulcinj.
The brilliant left-handed point guard was born 30 years ago in Brooklyn, played college basketball for Murray State University, and in Europe he also wore the jerseys of Borac, FMP, Limoges, Cluj and, since last year, Igokea.
Mozzartsport also states that Buducnost has another option, which is Stanley Whitaker, who played for two VTB League members this season - first for Uralmash, and then for Parma.
McKinley Wright is leaving after two phenomenal seasons and will be the new point guard for Euroleague team Dubai.
