Montenegrin basketball coach Nebojša Bogavac will continue to be the coach of ASA Basket next season, the French club announced today.
Bogavac had an offer from the famous Limoges on the table, but he will not change his midfield, but will remain with the team with which he made history this season. Pierre Tavano will also remain on the coaching staff.
"Rare complementarity, complete dedication and the desire to continue writing the beautiful history of ASA Basket," the club announced.
Nebojša Bogavac took over ASA Basket in December 2023.
"I'm tied to the club for three years. If I have the option to go to the LNB or another First League in Europe, then I can get out of the contract," Bogavac explained in an interview with "Vijesti" in early May.
However, he will not be released from his contract, but will continue his successful work in the same environment. This season, with Bogavac on the bench, ASA Basket took sixth place in the regular season of the PRO B league. Then, it reached the playoff finals for entry into the elite LNB league, where it was defeated by Le Portel 2:1 in the series, which is the best result in the history of this club.
Nebojša Bogavac left a deep mark in France, and in his playing career he played for Le Mans, Asvel and Dijon.
During his coaching career, he was on the coaching staff of Strasbourg under Vincent Colle, and after parting ways with Podgorica two years ago, he returned to France, where he strengthened the coaching staff of Metropolitan, from where he arrived at ASA Basket in December 2023.
During his playing and coaching career, he won the title, the Cup and the Leaders Cup in France.
