The coach of the Montenegrin national basketball team, Boško Radović, told "Vijesti" that he has not discussed his status on the bench of our national team with anyone.
Boško Radović's contract with the Basketball Association of Montenegro (KSCG) expires after EuroBasket, and this will be discussed when KSCG gets a new president.
KSCG is currently in an acting state, because Jelena Dubljević resigned at the end of April, and at the Extraordinary Electoral Assembly, held at the end of June, there was no quorum, so Dragan Kadić was not elected president.
"I have a contract until the end of the European Championship. I have not spoken to anyone about extending cooperation or possibly parting ways. KSCG will soon have a new president, so there will be discussions about that, and that will be the decision whether I will stay or not, whether there are common interests," said Radović.
Montenegro will be weakened at EuroBasket, as they will be without captain Bojan Dubljević (he is undergoing hand surgery), Nikola Ivanović (he has been struggling with injuries for some time, so he will use the summer for a break and rehabilitation), Petar Popović (family obligations), Nemanja Radović (signed a contract in Taiwan, must appear on September 1), Dino Radončić (meniscus injury) and Fedor Žugić (did not receive clearance from Creighton University), and there is little chance that Luka Bogavac, Andrija Grbović and David Mirković will appear due to NCAA commitments.
"Regarding the relationship between the coach and the national team players - I have been in contact with all the players throughout the year. Everything we have agreed on is on a professional and friendly level, which all the players can confirm. Everything else is pure speculation. What I can say is - I will certainly not allow anyone to destroy the atmosphere and cult of the national team, which we have been building for years, and which has been at the highest possible level for all these years, and even today," said Radović.
