The Basketball Association of Montenegro (KSCG) has a new president today - Montenegrin basketball will be led by the first man of the Future Voli, Dragan Bokan, for the next four years, the duration of the mandate.
Bokan was the only candidate at the Extraordinary Election Session of the KSCG Assembly, and received the support of 66 delegates, while two abstained. The KSCG Assembly has 90 delegates, and today's session was attended by 68.
The KSCG statute allows the president of a club to also be the head of the Federation - which means that Bokan will be able to continue to lead the largest domestic club.
Bokan succeeded Jelena Dubljević in this position, who served as president from November 24, 2023, until April 29 of this year, when she resigned.
Since the end of April, Montenegrin basketball has been in an interim state. After that, an extraordinary election session was scheduled for June 23rd, and the only candidate for president was Dragan Kadić, who, as announced by the Federation, was supported by 15 clubs with 24 delegates.
However, the session on June 23 was not held because there was no quorum, given that 38 delegates were present, and a minimum of 46 delegates is required for the session to be held.
After that, a new session was scheduled for July 22, and in the meantime, Bokan's candidacy was the only one. Kadić stated in a statement on July 17 that he consciously refused to apply for the new, as he called "illegal competition."
