Podgorica Bemax basketball players gathered this morning at the "Berax Arena", where they held their first training session, officially beginning preparations for the new season.
There were 13 players at the first training session, and in addition to six newcomers - Lazar Radetić (2003), Dušan Mahorčić (1998), Danilo Ivanović (2003), Srđa Bulatović (2002), Petar Minić (2004) and Aleksa Bulajić (2002), the team also includes Danilo Lacmanović (2004), Petar Radonjić (2005), Jan Bulajić (2007), Denil Krnić (2007), Balša Globarević (2007), as well as returnees Milorad Brajović (2005) and Šefćet Bećiragić (2006).
"I'm glad we got together and started preparations. The first day went quite well, and already in the first training session you can see that we are a very young team. It will take a lot of work, but we are ready for it and I hope that they will get better every day. It will be difficult, but I hope that we can get a good result, although the most important thing at the moment is that these young players progress and that every day we see progress in their development," Podgorica Bemax coach Miodrag Kadija told the club's website.
When it comes to preparations, Podgorica will traditionally work in the "Bemax Arena"...
"I think we will do all the preparations in Podgorica, because we have really ideal conditions and there is no need to go anywhere. All that remains is to define the dates of the test matches, so we will perhaps travel for four or five days to do a mini tour, in order to play as many preparation matches as possible," added Kadija.
Podgorica Bemax will have an ever younger team next season - the average age is 19, and the oldest player is Dušan Mahorčić (1998), so it is clear that the Montenegrin ABA 2 league team will take on challenges with new energy, and the main goal will be the affirmation of players whose time is yet to come.
"We currently have 13 players in training, there is a doubt about two players, but I hope that will be resolved quickly, because it is important that we are all together from the start, because delay certainly brings certain consequences. If anyone needs to have foreigners, then it is Buducnost, which plays in the Eurocup, and SC Derbi, which will play in the Champions League, because obviously you cannot build a quality team without foreigners, but as far as the domestic league and ABA 2 league are concerned, I think this is much better and that a chance should be given to domestic players," Kadija is categorical.
Miodrag Kadija's coaching staff includes team manager Nikola Bulatović, assistant coaches Miloš Đurišić and Aleksa Đurišić, fitness coach Nemanja Marković, and physiotherapist Milorad Čukić.
Podgorica Bemax will play against Borac Banja Luka at the start of the new season, within the NLB ABA 2 League, on October 7th at the "Bemax Arena".
