After a memorable season, the Bemax Future basketball team gathered today and began preparations for new challenges. The Montenegrin and regional champions trained in the "Bemax Arena" and officially began preparations for the season in which they will defend three trophies, but also have the opportunity to prove their potential and quality...
"After national team commitments, both in the senior and junior national teams, and a mini break, we are now back together and starting preparations for the next season. I am glad that, thanks to the club leaders and our sponsor, we managed to complete the roster a month ago, so we are all together, except for two Americans, who will join us in two weeks by agreement," said Podgorica coach Petar Stojanović.
Unlike last season, Budućnost Bemax will not have Americans Terry Briggs and Tess Amundsen on the roster, as well as Jelena Bulajić, who will continue her education and basketball training in Florida, while Maja Bigović's status is still questionable, but it is highly likely that she will also leave the "wolves". On the other hand, the team has been strengthened by Americans Delajin Bern, who plays in the positions of power forward and center, and Gina Kaningen, who is the "five". After missing the entire season because they had to undergo anterior cruciate ligament surgery, Ksenija Šćepanović and Anastasija Drobnjak are returning to the team.
"It is a great pleasure that we have retained the core of the team. We knew that the Americans Briggs and Amundsen would leave at the end of the season, but we reacted really quickly and immediately signed two new foreigners, who we believe can bring us quality. We have kept our main assets, I am glad that Drobnjak and Šćepanović are back in the training process, so we have a good roster again," added the young expert.
Stojanović has created a plan and program of preparations, according to which the "blues" will play eight control matches, in order to prepare as best as possible for the start of the new season, and in the premiere on October 15th they will host the Bulgarian team Rilski.
"According to tradition, we will be on a mini tour in Belgrade from September 10th to 14th, where we will have four matches. We will play against Mega, Montana, Partizan and Kraljevo, and then we will participate in the international tournament in Banja Luka, while on September 27th we will host Ragusa from Dubrovnik. All that remains is to define the last test, which we will have in early October. I believe that these will be real tests before the start of the WABA League. We are looking forward to new challenges, we have a good team and I think we will show ourselves in a good light," Stojanović is convinced.
Already at the first training session of the "blues", younger players from Podgorica - Ljube Andrić, Marija Sekulović and Anđela Rakočević - joined.
"The tradition of very talented players from Podgorica coming to Buducnost continues. Ljube Andrić will play for Buducnost this season, but we have other very interesting players who are one step away from the first team and we are trying to give them as much chance as possible to experience that senior level, and thanks to them we have a bright future," concluded Stojanović.
Petar Stojanović's coaching staff this season also includes coaches Smiljana Milatović and Miroslav Škara, fitness coach Miljan Dautović and physiotherapist Petar Stojović.
