The President of the Basketball Association of Montenegro (KSCG), Dragan Bokan, visited the national team players and coaching staff in Bar yesterday, as they prepare for the European Championship.
At least this summer it is the base for our basketball players, who traveled to Thessaloniki today, where tomorrow (19) they will play their third friendly match against Greece before another appearance at EuroBasket.
Montenegro has made a good impression during the preparations so far, first in a narrow defeat to France (81:70), and then in a victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo (102:90). The President of the Federation thanked the national team players for their effort and dedication and emphasized the readiness for future relations in our home of basketball to be built on mutual trust and open communication.
"It gives me great pleasure to be here with you today and to have the opportunity to address you for the first time in my capacity as the President of the Basketball Association of Montenegro.
First of all, I want to thank you for everything you do for our Montenegro and for the most beautiful jersey in the world that you wear with pride. I know that behind your success is immense dedication, work and sacrifice, and for all of the above, you have my sincere respect.
In this short period since I took over this position, I have had the opportunity to learn about the challenges you face both as a team and individually. I am aware that there is room for improvement, and I want you to know that the Federation, with my full support, will invest all available effort and resources to provide you with the best possible conditions for work, preparation and competition.
Today I am not addressing you out of mere formality, but out of the responsibility and emotion I feel towards you, towards our national team and towards Montenegrin basketball. I want us to build mutual trust and open communication for the benefit of our Montenegrin team, the pride of the nation. I am ready to listen to you, to learn from you and, together with everyone in the Federation, to provide the best possible conditions for our national team. Thank you once again for your dedication and patriotism. Let us go together into new days and new victories, with faith in success, together!", announced Dragan Bokan, President of the KSCG, after the meeting.
Our basketball players will play the group stage of EuroBasket in Tampere with one of the championship hosts, the Finnish team, and Group B also includes Germany, Lithuania, Great Britain and Sweden. Four teams from the group advance to the knockout stage, which will be played in Riga.
The European Championship is scheduled from August 27 to September 14. In addition to Finland, the hosts are Latvia, Poland and Cyprus.
