Everything about Igor Đaletić and Budućnost is somehow associated with the number seven - he was an assistant in the coaching staff of the "blue and whites" for so many years, and then this summer, after the same amount of time, he returned to his club.
The Buducnost Voli basketball players will have additional help from the bench in the new season, as Đaletic has completed his foreign mission, mainly related to Japan.
"I hope that during these seven years I have progressed in all segments of this job. I will try to transfer my life and work experience to the already established system that has been giving good results for years," said Đaletić, who twice independently led Buducnost to titles in Montenegro.
Đaletić also wore the blue and white jersey as a player, and from 2011 to 2018 he was part of the coaching staff. After leaving Podgorica, he was an assistant to Igor Jovović in Zjelona Gora, and then he embarked on a Japanese adventure. He first worked as an assistant to Luka Pavićević at Alvark from Tokyo, and then in Yokohama and Sendai.
"How do I feel again at Buducnost? Simply put, phenomenal. I'm back at my club and I can freely say that I'm excited about my arrival. I'm looking forward to the start of this season," emphasized Đaletić.
And his club is still one of the best in the region, last year they beat the Euroleague teams in Belgrade, played in the ABA League final. Now the team has changed a bit, but the ambitions have not changed.
"I think a good job has been done in this transfer window. The future has been the name of all these years, which is why expectations are always high. I don't see any reason for anything to change. We will go for victory in every match, and we will prepare like we did from the first day we got together - with maximum seriousness and hard work. We will continue in that spirit until the end of the season," Đaletić is clear.
As expected, Japan made a strong impression on him.
"It's a phenomenal and well-organized country, with a culture at the highest possible level. When we talk specifically about basketball, it was an exceptional experience. They have an incredible system, which tries to copy the NBA league in all segments, and we all know that it is an umbrella organization in our business. So, everything was positive," concluded Đaletić.
