Tomorrow, exactly one month after the start of preparations, the Bemaxa women's basketball team will travel to Serbia, where they will play four friendly matches over the next four days.
"Blues" began preparations on August 11th, trained diligently in the "Bemax Arena", and tomorrow morning they will travel to Belgrade, where they will have matches against Mega, Montana and Partizan over the course of three days, while they will end the tour on Saturday with a match against Kraljevo.
It will be an ideal opportunity for the coaching staff to gain a much clearer picture of the team's current state over four days and four matches.
"After a month of preparation, we are facing our first tests. The girls have been training really hard since day one, and about ten days ago, two players from America joined us, so we are still getting used to each other and getting to know each other. We also had minor problems with injuries, which made it difficult to continue training, but I think we did this first phase of preparation the right way," said Petar Stojanović, coach of Budućnost Bemax.
Unlike last season, Buducnost Bemaks was left by Americans Terry Briggs and Tess Amundsen, as well as Jelena Bulajić, who will continue her education and basketball training in Florida, while Maja Bigović went to Hungary, where she strengthened the B team of Sopron. On the other hand, the team was strengthened by Americans Delajin Bern, who plays in the positions of wing center and center, and Gina Kaningen, who is the "five". After missing the entire season, because they had to undergo anterior cruciate ligament surgery, Ksenija Šćepanović and Anastasija Drobnjak are returning to the team.
"It's good that, except for the new players from America, we were all together from day one and we really did everything that was planned. Šćepanović and Drobnjak will mean a lot to us, but their return is still expected, so we have to be patient," Stojanović emphasized.
The "wolves" will have their first test as part of their tour in Serbia tomorrow at 17 pm against Mega.
"The matches against Mega, Montana, Partizan and Kraljevo will be good tests for us and to see where we are at the moment. Next weekend is the tournament in Banja Luka, and at the end of September we welcome Ragusa, so through these matches we will get the right picture before the start of the season. In any case, I think the girls are going in the right direction," concluded Stojanović.
