Podgorica Bemax basketball players returned from Zlatibor, where they played three friendly matches over the course of four days.
After matches in Podgorica and Nikšić against Baškimi, Sutjeska and Kotor, Podgorica Bemax traveled to Zlatibor last week, where they had three tests: against Al Ahli, the champion of Egypt and ABA2 league team Zlatibor, while in Užice they faced Sloboda. Miodrag Kadija's weakened team, which was without captain Danilo Ivanović, was defeated in all three duels, but the three matches provided valuable guidelines.
"We played three games in Zlatibor and unfortunately lost all three. I think we showed certain moments of play, but we still have a lot of room to improve, especially in aggression and energy," Siniša Šorak told the club's website.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina international, who plays as a centre, is one of eight new players who arrived in the break between the two seasons – in addition to Šorak, Podgorica Bemax signed Stefan Adžić, Srđa Bulatović, Aleksa Bulajić, Petar Minića, Danilo Ivanović, Lazar Radetić and Dušan Mahorčić. Because of this, and the fact that Podgorica Bemax has an ever-younger team, it is clear that it will take time for all the pieces to fall into place.
"I see the preparations as a good foundation for now, but we certainly need more work to look the way we want. We are working well, we have good conditions and I am sure we will be even better," Šorak said clearly.
By the way, at the start of the new season in the ABA 2 league, Podgorica Bemax will host Borac from Banja Luka on October 7. After the first round, Podgorica will have two consecutive away games – first, they will go to Tuzla as part of the second round (October 21) to face Sloboda, and then on November 5 they will play away to Jahorina. Then, they will host Student (November 18), then on December 16 they will play away to Vojvodina, while the first match in 2026 will be played on January 14 in the “Bemax Arena” against Cibona. At the end of the league part, Podgorica will first play away to the team MZT Skopje on January 28, and then on March 3 they will welcome Helios.
"The expectations are that through training and the next matches we will raise the level of play and be ready when the season starts. The tests so far have meant a lot to us and I believe that by the first match of the new season we will be at a higher level," Šorak is clear.
