The Detroit basketball players defeated Atlanta 120:112 tonight and achieved their 11th consecutive victory in the NBA.
The Pistons were led by Cade Cunningham with 25 points, 10 assists and six rebounds and Jalen Duran with 24 points and eight rebounds. Cunningham became the first player in franchise history to have at least 25 points and at least 10 assists in five consecutive games.
Dennis Jenkins contributed to the victory with 14 points and seven assists, Duncan Robinson with 14 points, and Isaiah Stewart with 13 points and nine rebounds.
For Atlanta, which snapped a five-game winning streak, Jaylen Johnson scored 25 points with nine assists and eight rebounds, Nikhil Alexander-Walker added 24 points, and Onyeka Okongwu had 21 points.
Detroit is now 13-2, its best start to a season since 2005-06, when it was 15-2. The 11-game winning streak is the longest in the league this season. Atlanta, which has been without Zachary Rizasher, Trae Young and Kristaps Porzingis due to injuries, has nine-6.
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated Utah 140-125, and Lakers player LeBron James returned to the court after health problems and began a record 23rd season in the NBA. James played almost half an hour and scored 11 points and 12 assists.
He didn't score in the first 11 minutes, but then made two 3-pointers in the first half to pass Reggie Miller for sixth place in league history. James missed preseason and the first 14 games of the season with sciatica. Vince Carter held the record for most points in 22 seasons in the league.
The Lakers were led by Luka Dončić with 37 points, 10 assists, five rebounds and four steals. Austin Reeves added 26 points, and DeAndre Ayton had 20 points and 14 rebounds.
In the Utah team, which was defeated for the fifth time in the last seven games, the most efficient was Keyonte George with 34 points and eight assists, Lauri Markkanen scored 31 points, while Jusuf Nurkić had 10 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.
The Orlando Magic defeated Golden State 121-113 for their fourth win in five games. Desmond Bayne led the way with 23 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals, while Anthony Black added 21 points. Franz Wagner added 18 points and eight rebounds, while Wendell Carter added 17 points and 12 rebounds.
For Golden State, Stephen Curry scored 34 points and had nine assists, while Jimmy Butler had 33 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. Draymond Green added 12 points, six rebounds and six assists.
In other games, Boston defeated Brooklyn 113:99, San Antonio defeated Memphis 111:101, inflicting its fifth consecutive defeat, and Phoenix defeated Portland 127:110.
