Los Angeles Clippers basketball player Chris Paul said today that the club is "sending him home" from Atlanta, after he was fired.
"I just found out I'm being sent home," Paul wrote on social media.
The Los Angeles Clippers basketball players are in Atlanta for a game against the Hawks, which will be played on the night between Wednesday and Thursday, Central European Time.
The Clippers lost to Miami on Monday night and have started the season poorly with five wins and 16 losses.
Paul is playing his 21st season in the NBA, which he hinted last month would be his last.
He is a two-time Olympic champion, a 12-time All-Star and, with 12.552, is second in NBA history in assists. Paul became the first player to score at least 20.000 points while also having at least 10.000 assists.
Los Angeles Clippers director of basketball operations Lawrence Frank confirmed that the 40-year-old basketball player has been fired.
"We are parting ways with Chris and he will no longer be with the team. We will work with him on the next step of his career," said Frank.
