The New York Knicks won the NBA Cup trophy after defeating San Antonio 124:113 in the finals in Las Vegas last night.
The Knicks thus won their first trophy since 1973, when they won an NBA championship ring.
San Antonio led for most of the game before the Knicks went on a 13-1 run late in the third quarter to take a 100-95 lead. After that, they never let go of the lead.
The most responsible for New York's victory were OG Anunoby with 28 and Jaylen Brunson with 25 points, while Karl-Anthony Towns recorded 16 points and 11 rebounds despite battling an injury.
On the other side, San Antonio was led by Dylan Harper who scored 21 points, Victor Wembanyama added 18, and Dearon Fox had 16 points.
In addition to the trophy, each Knicks player with a standard contract earned a total of $530.933 after this victory.
This game does not count towards the NBA standings, so both teams remain with a record of 18 wins and seven losses.
This was the third edition of the NBA Cup - in the premiere edition of the competition, the Los Angeles Lakers won, while last year the best was Milwaukee.
