Panathinaikos basketball players defeated Fenerbahce (81:77) away last night in the 16th round of the Euroleague, and after the match, the coach of the Greek team, Ergin Ataman, spoke about the behavior of the fans of the team from Istanbul.
Ataman has not had good relations with Fenerbahçe fans for a long time, and he pointed out that they insulted him and his mother during the game.
"I don't understand why 10.000 Fenerbahçe fans cursed at me and my 87-year-old mother. Stop being aggressive and show everyone on the court what you're worth. I'm very nervous because these are rude and ill-mannered people. Someone from the Euroleague needs to understand that this language they speak and how they express themselves is not fair to those who play basketball and those who are in basketball. I'm proud to be the coach of Turkey, but those who curse at my mother and me are uneducated and ill-mannered people," Ataman said.
Then he analyzed the match.
"I'm nervous, I'm angry. We played well in the first half, but we started badly in the second half. We lost the ball, we made mistakes and we let Fenerbahce play at their own pace. We had ten points to spare and we lost control of the game," Ataman began.
