Virtus lost to Red Star in the 17th round of the Euroleague (90:89), even having a shot to win, but Carsen Edwards missed by three points.
It was a real game of nerves, with many changes in the lead, and Red Star was led to triumph by Jared Butler with points 20 seconds before the end.
Red Star thus ended a three-game losing streak in the elite competition, now at 10-7, while Virtus lost for the ninth time (8-9).
The "Red and White" was led by Cody Miller-McIntyre with 21 points and 10 assists, Jordan Envora scored 20. On the other side, Edwards had 29, and Luke Wildos had 16 with nine assists.
Partizan suffered the second most convincing defeat in Euroleague history.
The "Black and Whites" were desperate in Kaunas, so Žalgiris' victory by plus 41 (109:68) speaks volumes.
"Upon returning to Belgrade, we have to sit down and see what to do next. This is not how we should play," said Partizan interim coach Mirko Ocokoljić.
