SC Derby basketball players suffered their sixth consecutive defeat in the ABA League, this time on the court, and against rivals where it was difficult to expect them to be able to score points.
Petar Mijović's team was defeated in Romania by Eurocup participants Cluj with a score of 96:85.
Although they initially had the only lead in the match (2:0), the "students" showed improvements that could help them in duels with equal rivals.
Throughout the match, they were "breathing down the Romanians' necks", trailing by three points at halftime (although they were down -16 before that), and by the beginning of the last quarter, they were down to -4 (69:65).
The home team, however, had several quality assets, they made a 7:0 run for a decent lead and were not afraid in the finish.
The most efficient player for SC Derby was Aleksa Ilić with 16 points, followed by Nikola Pavlićević with 14, Darius Johnson with 12, Jair Davis and Mateo Drežnjak with 11 each.
Cluj was led to victory by Iverson Molinar with 26 and Deron Russell with 23 points.
Mijović's team will play their next match in the ABA League on January 3rd next year, away against Krka.
