The year that brought many unforgettable victories and the final of the Admiralbet ABA League ended in the most beautiful way - with a victory against a direct rival in the fight for better positions in the Eurocup.
The Buducnost Voli basketball team defeated Turk Telekom in "Morača" - 91:81. It was the first triumph ever against a rival from Turkey, which came in an exciting match decided in the last quarter.
"I think we deserved to win the game. When we improved our aggression and solidity in defense in the second half, it gave us the result," said Andrej Žakelj, coach of Buducnost.
And the attack?
"We've been playing in good form in this match and some of the previous ones when it comes to that segment, but it's the defense that brings the result - we only conceded 37 points in the second half of the match. There was also the rebound and those are the things that decided the game," added Žakelj.
The Slovenian expert emphasized that the focus must remain on the continuation of the Eurocup, and he also spoke about the fans.
"Let's move on, we can't relax too much, and I have to praise the audience, they were incredible tonight. We haven't had so many spectators in a long time, thank you all and I hope we'll continue to see each other in such numbers."
The coach of the "blue and whites" also answered which games were his favorite and most difficult in the year that is coming to an end.
"2025 is long, but perhaps the favorite is the one in the third match of the ABA League semi-finals against Red Star. I think that's a favorite for many. And the hardest? The next one against Partizan. That's sport, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but overall it was a good year," concluded Žakelj.
