Besiktas basketball players started the season well, with a 13-0 record in the domestic championship, and then they were defeated in derbies by Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, so the management had to react and bring in reinforcements.
The new players of the Istanbul team are Matt Thomas and Sertac Sanli and they will be great assets in the fight for the title in the Eurocup, but also in the Turkish championship.
Tomas arrived at Besiktas from Granada, where he averaged 14,6 points this season.
The American guard has played for Toronto, Utah, Chicago, Obradoiro, Panathinaikos, Alba, and Valencia in his career, with whom he won the EuroCup in 2019.
And Sanli comes to Besiktas from Dubai, where he averaged five points and 2,7 rebounds in the AdmiralBet ABA League this season. In the Euroleague, he averaged 2,4 points.
Sanli plays as a center, and played for Besiktas from 2016 to 2018. He played for numerous Turkish teams, including Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, and Efes, and also wore the Barcelona jersey for a time.
He won the Euroleague with Efes and Fenerbahce.
Besiktas is in Group B in the Eurocup, which also includes Buducnost Voli. The Turkish team has a record of nine wins and four losses, and on January 21st they will host Buducnost, and in that match they will be stronger thanks to the aforementioned reinforcements.
