SC Derby faces a hell of a tough job in the Admiralbet ABA League play-offs to remain part of the regional elite, and everything could have been at least one win easier if there had been no refereeing errors in the last match of the first phase.
The basketball players coached by Petar Mijović were defeated by FMP in a dramatic match at "Morača" on Sunday evening (73:72), and a day later the ABA League Referee Commission somehow confirmed that the referees' mistakes directly influenced the result.
The refereeing commission singled out two mistakes by Josip Radojković, Dragan Porobić, and Ivan Milićević, both of which occurred in the last 45 seconds of the game.
In the first case, the referees did not call Filip Barna's moves with 45 seconds left, after which the FMP player hit three free throws. Then, at the end of the game, they did not call a foul by Filip Rebrača on Darija Drežnjak from SC Derbi.
"In both situations, the referees did not sanction actions in accordance with the Rules of the Game," it says on the ABA League website.
SC Derby will start the play-offs from the last position (leading to relegation) with a score of 3-13, and its first rival on Friday will be Spartak.
