The "Students", as the ABA Referee Commission admitted, deserved more in the last round against FMP - it was announced that two decisions in the last minute went directly to the detriment of the Podgorica team, but there is no time to complain, because on Friday a very strong rival will arrive at the "M:tel Morača Hall" (6:30 p.m.). Probably the best they will face until the end of the season in the regional competition.
The first opponent in the play-offs is Spartak, a team that has already visited our capital this season - and won. And Buducnost Voli.
"We are playing against a team that is at the very top of the ABA League in terms of organization, coaching and the quality of its players. We have great respect for Spartak, for the way they play and how they are managed. Igor Drobnjak, Olivia Hanlan and Danilo Nikolić are the key levers and drivers of their attack, which is one of the best in the league in terms of its structure," said SC Derbija coach Petar Mijović.
Vlade Jovanović, former coach of Buducnost, sits on the bench of Subotica.
"We are in a series of one-possession losses. I hope that this will bring us additional motivation and unity, and that with maximum approach we will have the opportunity to play for victory against the favorites," Mijović pointed out.
SC Derby defeated Spartak in both head-to-head matches last season, although they were in different groups.
"Considering the situation we are in, every next game is the most important for us in the season. We have to go for the win, especially on home soil. It is necessary to be maximally focused in defense, because Spartak has a very high-quality back line and pronounced individual quality," said Zoran Vučeljić, winger of SC Derbija.
