The NBA All-Star Weekend has begun, and the "Rising Star" tournament was won by Vince Carter's team, who beat Carmelo Anthony's team in the final - 25:24.
The tournament featured four teams consisting of basketball players from the Development League (led by Austin Rivers), rookies (first season in the NBA) and sophomores (second season in the NBA), who, in addition to Carter and Anthony, were also managed by Tracy McGrady.
The semifinals were played to 40 points, and the finals to 25. The hero of the evening was Philadelphia rookie Edgecombe, who took charge at 24:23 and hit both free throws from the line for a final score of 25:24 and a victory for Carter's team.
Edgecombe was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP), after scoring 17 points in the semifinals and adding six more in the finals.
Team Vince previously eliminated Tracy McGrady's team in the semifinals, leading 15:7, but the rival fought back with a 10:0 run in the finals and won 41:36.
In the second semifinal, Carmelo Anthony's team celebrated after a major upset over Austin Reeves' team 40:34.
