Panathinaikos lost at home to Kolossos (102:97) in the Greek championship last weekend, so the media again wrote about the departure of coach Ergin Ataman.
He played 17 games in 2026, losing nine. After the defeat to Aris, the Greek Gazeta wrote that Ataman's job was in jeopardy - after that game, the Athenians played five matches, losing three, and speculation about parting ways with the Turkish coach grew louder.
However, Greek SDNA reported last night that Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Yannakopoulos is not considering firing Ataman. The Greek agency writes that Ataman is safe even if the team does not win the Cup this week, as Yannakopoulos' primary goal is to win the Euroleague.
Following this announcement by SDNA, Yanakopoulos also responded on Instagram.
